Holiday Detector Method

The Holiday Detector, or “dry”, method is suitable for identifying  defects that might cause leaks in exposed membrane systems. It was originally designed specifically to test coatings on pipes and other metallic structures and has since been adapted for testing waterproofing membranes on roofing systems, bridge decks, car parks, etc.

Its main advantage as a test method is that it permits a very much quicker test regime, but can only be used in dry conditions. It relies on detecting defects by the passage of a high voltage arc across the membrane.

Advantages - Faster testing time, pinpoint accuracy
